Who:   For any Scouts BSA level youth, parents, and Troop leaders

When:  Saturday, September 28 - Sunday, September 29, 2024

What:  With the help of Ameren, this unique Scouts BSA program will be focused on STEM-based sustainable energy and electricity activities.

Ameren will inform and inspire our Scouts in the STEM disciplines with a huge variety of activities in a quick period of time - a tour of Ameren's solar farm in O'Fallon, MO complete with overnight camping, and building and racing solar-powered cars!  Merit badge sessions will also be included on Energy, Electricity, and Sustainability.   Come be part of this 3rd year event!

Prerequisites on merit badges include the following:  

• Energy req. #4
• Electricity reqs. #2 & #8
• Sustainability reqs - download and complete as much as you can of the booklet

Basic camping gear will be required.  A suggested list is available in the attachments.  Saturday dinner, evening crackerbarrel, and Sunday morning breakfast are included. (Please plan accordingy for food alergies).  Full details will be provided before the event. 

Time:   Saturday, September 28 at 3:00 p.m. to Sunday, September 29 at 11 a.m.    

Where:  Ameren Solar Farm, O'Fallon, MO 63376 (a map with details will be sent to participants in advance)

Cost:  $15.00 per Scout/Leader.  Includes:  Patch, Saturday Dinner, Sunday Breakfasts, and snacks.  Blue Card merit badge cards will be available to download after event.     

Payment:  Mastercard, VISA, and Discover.  Payments and registration will only be accepted online.   Registrations and cancellations will be accepted no later than Monday, September 23, 2024.   Substitutions from the Troop will be allowed. 

NO late registrations or walk-ins will be accepted.  Scout participants will be capped at 60 for the event.  All Scouts will need to have adult supervision during the entire event.    First come, first served.

Saturday, September 28:

3:00-3:30 p.m.   Gathering at Ameren Solar Farm

3:30-4:00 p.m.   Set up camp

4:00-5:00 p.m.  Safety introduction / Live wire demo (very cool!)

5:00-6:00 p.m.  Dinner / finish camp set up if necessary  

6:00-9:00 p.m.  Merit badge sessions on Energy, Electricity, and Sustainability - solar car build

9-10 p.m.         Free time - finish solar car build if necessary - crackerbarrel

10 p.m.            Lights out

Sunday, September 29:

8 a.m.                   Breakfast / break down camp

9-11 a.m.             Solar farm tour / solar cars experiments-competition 

11 a.m.                Depart for home
