NOVA Day & Swim requirements at SCCC

Santa Fe Trail District Nova Day & Swim Lock-in

Saturday, February, 24th 2024 @ Seward County Community College

This Santa Fe Trail District NOVA Day will be located at the SCCC in Liberal, and will be an opportunity for Cub Scouts to get 2 Novas Out of this World and Swing. (only Cubs who are Wolves, Bears or Webelos)  The Swim Lock-in will provide an opportunity for Cub Scouts of all Ranks to get thier swimming requirment what ever that might be. 

Activities:

  • Watch show on planets and space (Requirement 1 for both Nova)
  • Label Solar system, focus binoculars and talk constellations (Requirement 2A for Out of this world)
  • create solar system using balloons and a flahslight(Requirement 3 for Out of this world)
  • make craft project on eclipses (Requirement 4 for Out of this World)
  • Watch video about space exploration (Requirement 5 for Out of this World)
  • Play games tennis golf (Requirement 2 for Swing)
  • Label different Levers(Requirement 3 for Swing)
  • Visit the Kitchen to Look for levers and simple machines (Requirement 4&5 for Swing)
  • All requirements are covered during this event
    Schedule:
  • 8:00am:  Check-in (don't forget your Medical forms A & B)
  • 8:30am - 12:00pm:  Out of this world Requirments 1a-2a & Swing 1
  • 12:00 - 1:00pm:  Lunch*
  • 1:00 - 1:30pm:  Out of this world Requirments 3-5
  • 1:30 - 1:45pm:  Break
  • 1:45 - 3:30pm:  Swing Requirments 2-5
  • 3:45 - 4:00pm:  Sign off both worksheet: Clean up
  • 4:00 - 4:30pm:  Check-out if leaving OR Sign-up for Swimming Advancemnt at the pool
  • 5:00 - 5:45pm:  Cub Scout handbook work
  • 6:00 - 7:30pm:  Pool requirment 
  • 7:45 - 8:15pm:  Pizza Supper (*sponsored by Skyland Grain LLC)
  • 8:30 - 10:00pm:  Pool fun, or check-out 
  • 10:30pm:  Check-out if leaving and not camping out
  • 11:00pm:   "Lock-in" & start winding down

Supervision:       All Packs must have two-deep leadership in accordance with Youth Protection Guidelines and ALL adults must have completed current Youth Protection Training

Registration fee is ($10) per Cub Scout (Wolf, Bear, or Webelos only), which includes the program supplies, lunch and supper.  Adult fee is ($10) per person,for Nova and Swimming. *Lunch is included

Pre-registration is required.  No registration at doors.  Online payment is required and may be made by credit card or electronic check.  Please be sure to get with Unit Leadership to get registered.  LAST DAY TO REGISTER - Wednesday, February 21, 2024 by 4pm.  No phone-in or paper registrations at the door are allowed.
