National Youth Leadership Training

Course Overview 

This premier Council level co-ed training experience teaches the concepts of what a Leader must BE, what they must KNOW, and what they must DO.  These key elements bring together the HOW TO’S of Leadership.  Your Leadership skills will come alive as you embark on your Quest for the Meaning of Leadership in one week-long course.   

Your week will focus on leadership principles located in and around your camp area with excursions throughout the week. 

Youth Who May Attend 

Any registered Scouts BSA youth 13 or older and is First Class by the start of the event

Scouts must be a First-Class Scout by May 25, 2026 and completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST). 

Venture Scouts must have completed Crew Officers Orientation and Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews (ILSC). 

Must be recommended and registered by their Scoutmaster or Crew Advisor. Parents are not to register their youth!

Registration 

The NYLT fee is $285.  The cut-off date for registration and final fees due is April 16, 2026. 

To get registered, the Unit Leader must register the Youth on Black Pug at  https://scoutingevent.com/198-34054 along with a non-refundable deposit of $35.00.  Participants will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis until the course reaches capacity (48 Male, 48 Female).  Alternates will be placed on a stand-by wait list.  NO Refunds, but fees may be transferred to another Scout. 

 

Check in: 8:00AM - 8:30AM, Program starts shortly after check in!

All Attendees must have A,B,C Medical forms completed and available at check in.

The Fee covers training materials, food, and recognition items.  In addition, you will need to provide your personal camping gear and uniforms.  Details will be found in your participant packet located on our council’s web site, www.quivira.org . 

(One of the NYLT staff members will contact you prior to the course to provide and gather further information.  You will be asked to complete and return a Personal Resource Questionnaire.)
