2026 SUMMER MERIT BADGE CAMP

C.W. POST MEMORIAL SCOUT CAMP

This summer we are offering an exciting merit badge experience!  We will offer the opportunity to earn up to six merit badges over the course of camp all while Scouts get to beat the Texas heat by sleeping in the bunkhouses!

We offer a range of merit badges for our summer camp participants including:

• Art
• Archery
• Astronomy
• Camping (Eagle)
• Chess
• Climbing
• Cycling (Eagle)
• First Aid (Eagle)
• Horsemanship (requires two sessions)
• Indian Lore
• Leatherwork (requires purchase of materials)
• Motorboating* (requires two sessions)
• Pioneering
• Shotgun
• Swimming** (Eagle)
• Trail to First Class (requires two sessions)

*For Motorboating merit badge, you must complete the following prior to arrival at camp and e-mailed proof of completion to sonja.morton@scouting.org:

• Must be at least 13 years old
• Successfully complete BSA Swim Test (see merit badge requirement 2A)
• Have a permit to operate a motorboat (see merit badge requirement 4B)

**For Swimming merit badge, you must complete the following prior to arrival at camp and e-mail proof of completion to sonja.morton@scouting.org:

• Requirement 2: Before doing the following requirements, successfully complete the BSA swimmer test: Jump feet first into water over the head in depth.  Level off and swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy, resting backstroke.  The 100 yards must be completed in one swim without stops and must include at least one sharp turn.  After completing the swim, rest by floating.
