What to Expect:

Safety: Every participant must pass the Scouting America Swim test with the Swimmer classification. The Longhorn Council Aquatics Committee will *NOT* be offering Swim Tests - please email a copy of your swim roster ahead of time or bring a copy to check-in. You will not be permitted to race if you do not have a swim test. Please remember that the river is not considered a safe swim area in all areas so unless instructed by staff, you are not allowed to swim in the river. If you are above ankle deep water, you must have a PFD on. If you are found in the water with no PFD, we must file an Incident Report as it directly violates the Guide to Safe Scouting.

Non-Scouting Member Participants: Scouts and Scouters, invite your friends to this event! We want you to share the fun with everyone to get them interested and involved in Scouting! Non-Scouting member participants get the same experience as their friends, and there is no pressure to join – just to have fun! There is an additional cost to cover the insurance of a non member.

Medical Forms: All Participants & Staff need to have Medical Form Parts A & B completed and on file with the unit leader at the event.

Canoe Races: Navigate the scenic Brazos River with your canoeing partner as you race against others to the finish line. This year we have added a Sunday morning race! You will sign up for your race day by selecting the session on the right side of this page.

Teamwork & Fun: Work together, paddle hard, and enjoy the excitement of the race in the great outdoors.

Equipment: Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs), paddles, and race number bibs are provided to all participants using council boats (boats are available on a first come-first served basis by order of signup). Any personal single-bladed canoe paddle (including bent shaft and curved blade paddles) may be used. We do have limited youth-sized PFDs so if you have your own, you are encouraged to bring them! Personal PFDs must be U.S. Coast Guard approved and checked by the race staff. Kayak paddles can be used in kayaks only. If you have your own boats and paddles, you are welcome to bring and use them but must coordinate transportation.

Scenic Views: Take in the beautiful landscape of Worth Ranch and the surrounding riverbanks. The Brazos River has some of the most breathtaking views in Texas!

Shirts: If you would like to pre-order an event t-shirt, the last day to do so is 8/19 at 11:59pm. There will be a limited amount for sale at the event if you miss the pre-sale!

Whether you're in it to win it or just for the fun, the Brazos River Canoe Race is a day of camaraderie, outdoor adventure, and making lasting memories. Don't miss out on this exciting event—register today!
