NRA Rifle and Shotgun Instructor Training Courses 

Ready to become a certified NRA instructor and lead rifle and shotgun ranges for Scouts and Venturers? This is your chance to gain the skills and certification needed to become a Rifle Shooting or Shotgun Shooting Merit Badge counselor!

Training Series Overview:

Join us for an intensive, two-weekend series designed to turn you into a skilled NRA instructor. The Longhorn Council Shooting Sports Committee is offering all the essential NRA courses to get you certified.

What’s Included:

- NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Student Class
- NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Student Class
- BIT (Basic Instructor Training)
- NRA Rifle Instructor Specific Training
- NRA Shotgun Instructor Specific Training
- NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) Class

Training Dates:

- Weekend 1: 3/29-3/30-2025, at the LHC Office.
- Weekend 2: 4/12-4/13/2025, at Worth Ranch (Early Friday night check-in available for campers; training starts Saturday morning).

Cost: $275 for the entire series of courses over the two weekends.

What to Bring:

- Essentials: Pencil/pen, pad, one copy each of the current Rifle & Shotgun Merit Badge pamphlets.
- Gear: A positive attitude, enthusiasm, camping gear, food, and drinks for the weekend.

Important Note:

- Application & Fees: You will be responsible for submitting your NRA application and the appropriate fees directly to NRA headquarters.
