Veteran's Day Parade

Event Details

Only one application should be submitted per unit.  If you are the parent of a Cub Scout, Scout, Venturer, or Sea Scout, PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS FORM.  You should register through your unit leader. Also, please note that the assembly time and place are still TBD.  We will send that information to the unit leaders as soon as we get it from the parade organizers.

The New York City Veterans Day Parade is the largest Veterans Day commemoration in the nation. Nearly 300 contingents consisting of 20,000 marchers and 150+ vehicles proceed up NYC’s iconic Fifth Avenue in the heart of Manhattan: America’s Most Patriotic mile!

Please Join GNYC and march with us on this special holiday! When you register, please indicate how many participants from your unit will be marching with us on the day of the parade.

Dear GNYC Unit Leaders,

I’m so pleased that your unit will be participating in the New York City Veterans’ Day Parade on Monday, November 11th.  We are going to have a great time!

Here is the information that you will need:

All marchers (except Lion and Tiger parents) are expected to be in full uniform (“Class A”)

We will be assembling on East 28th Street, between Fifth Avenue and Broadway.  You should enter on the Fifth Avenue side.  The closest subway stops are the 28th Streets stations on the N,R,and W lines.

Marchers should assemble between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m.  You MUST be there no later than 10:45 a.m.

We will be near the front of the parade, and expect to step off at 11:45 am.  The route of the parade is up Fifth Avenue, from our starting point to 45th Street.

After we discharge the scouts at 45th Street, any scouts or scouters who choose to do so will have an opportunity to view the rest of the parade.  Also, Troop 163 is participating in a separate observation in Upper Manhattan, which they have invited our Scouts to join.  For more information on this, please reach out to rivertonscouting163@gmail.com.

Please bring your unit flag (pack, troop, etc.)  You do NOT need to bring your American flag.  Each pack, troop, ship and crew should designate a youth to carry their unit flag … preferably someone with experience in an honor guard.

We are marching as a single unit.  Within the GNYC contingent, our order of march will be as follows:

American Flag and GNYC flag,

Unit flags as a massed group,

Lion Cubs with their adult partners,

Tiger Cubs with their adult partners,

Wolf and Bear Cub Scouts

Webelos Scouts

Scouts BSA

Sea Scouts

Venturers

Depending on the total numbers of marchers in our group, we will be marching in lines of five or six abreast.  We will be giving instructions at the parade site, so please be on time.

If your participation numbers change from what you initially reported, please e-mail and let me know as soon as possible.

Also, we need some leaders to volunteer as “Cub Captains” helping to coordinate our younger ones.  If you are available and interested, please reach out to me.

Don’t hesitate to reach out to me if there are questions!  Looking forward to seeing you tommorow.

Best regards,
