Aquehonga District BALOO

BALOO is required training if a cub pack plans to do overnight camping. At least one leader must have
completed this training. The training has 3 components: on-line, hands-on and pre-meeting.

On-line component: This is available any time via the BSA Learn Center. Simply log in the
myscouting.org to begin. Go to learn center, select catalog, and enter BALOO in the search box. One
of the goals of the on-line is to is to make the best use of time during the hands-on training and
enhance the experience.
Practical, hands-on component: This 1.5-day course is an introduction to the outdoor program
for Cub leaders so that a camping experience can be added to the pack program
This is an energetic training that will cover everything you need to know to plan and run a pack
overnight trip. It includes ideas for outdoor activities, games and ceremonies, selecting and utilizing
camping equipment, how to run a campfire program; cooking demonstration and health and safety in
the outdoors.
Cost is $30. This covers dinner on Saturday night and materials. You must bring your own breakfast
and lunch on Saturday.
