National Night Out

From local fairs to school events, we encourage all units across Greater New York Councils to participate in as many community tabling opportunities as possible.

Whether you’re a seasoned recruiter or trying your first outreach event, your District Executive can help with a list of upcoming events in your area. You can also search online for local street fairs, cultural festivals, or school supply giveaways happening nearby.

All of this leads up to our council-wide participation in National Night Out, a nationwide community-building event taking place Tuesday, August 4,2026. Last year, dozens of GNYC units joined in—and this year, we’re inviting even more to take part!

What to do at National Night Out?

At National Night Out—and at any summer tabling event—we encourage units to:

Set up a membership table

Include youth-friendly activities or demonstrations

Display Scouting materials and handout Recruitment/ Invitation flyers.
