Shooting Festival at Ed Bryant Scout Reservation

A Schützenfest is a traditional festival or fair in the cultures of Switzerland, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. featuring a target shooting competition

At a Schützenfest, contestants compete based on their shooting abilities. The competition's winner becomes the Schützenkönig ("king of marksmen") until the following year's competition

In keeping with the Octoberfest celebrations that are so popular in Wisconsin, The Range and Target Activities Committee is excited to bring a Schützenfest or Shooting Festival to Ed Bryant Scout Reservation on Saturday October 10. This challenge is open to youth Scouts and Adult Scouters.

This is one day Festival, but Troops and Crews are welcome to reserve a camp site and make a weekend event for their Unit. Some of the buildings and cabins may be open to rent as well.  

Shutzenfest Schedule

  • 8:00 AM: Check-in – Fellowship Hall
  • 8:30 AM: Safety Briefing – Fellowship Hall
  • 9:15 AM to 10:05 AM: First Session
  • 10:10 AM to 11:00 AM: Second Session
  • 11:05 AM to 11:55 AM: Third Session
  • 12:15 PM to 1:30 PM: Lunch – Fellowship Hall
  • 1:40 PM to 2:30 PM: Fourth Session
  • 3:25 PM to 4:15 PM: Fifth Session
  • 4:20 PM to 5:10 PM: Sixth Session
  • 5:30 PM: Awards and Checkout – Fellowship Hall

Program Overview

This festival will allow Scouts and Scouters to test their shooting skills and maybe learn some new ones. This event will highlight many shooting style events from the modern era all the way back to early man. Come find out who is the Schützenkönig ("king of marksmen"). There is a youth and an adult division for the competition. and the Top Troop! Open to Scouts BSA Troops & Venture Crews only, No Cub Scout Packs.

Shutzenfest consists of 6 rounds of competition. Each round of competition participants will have the opportunity to practice and then to shoot for a score. There will be a scout division and an adult division, and a champion will be named in each of those two divisions."

  • Rifle Shooting
  • Shotgun Shooting
  • Archery Target Shooting
  • Tomahawk and Knife Throwing
  • Paintball Target Shooting, and Slingshot Target Shooting
  • 3D Archery Shooting

Please be aware that while this program does not have a minimum age requirement, it is highly recommended that participants have some shooting experience.  It would be helpful if participants would have earned at least one Range Activities merit badge.

Thsi is a one day event at EBSR. However units can reserve a campsite using the EBSR Reservation System. The Web link to the resistration system is https://campreservation.com/620/Camps/538. There may also be some cabin rentals available. Check in for units camping wiil be handle by the EBSR Campnaster on duty not the Schutzenfest staff.
