Camp Mountaineer

In partnership with the Summit Bechtel Reserve, Camp Mountaineer is proud to provide an opportunity for Scouts/adults to attend Orion Project.

Experience everything the Summit Bechtel Reserve has to offer with Orion Project (only available during the 2021 season).  The Orion Project is a seven-day overnight program that will give Scouts free reign of the Summit. The name of the game is adventure, and with so many great opportunities for BMX, skateboarding, mountain biking, zip lines, canopy tours, challenge courses, climbing, shooting sports, whitewater rafting, and fellowship with Scouts from across the nation, there’s lots to experience and choose from.  Open to all members of Scouts BSA and Venturing.

BONUS: Scouts participating in Orion Project will be given the opportunity to take part in focus groups that will directly impact the next BSA National Jamboree! Participants will get to give their opinions and help define the future of the BSA National Jamboree.

Participant Fees (youth or adult):

• $910 ($150 deposit due at the time of registration; balance due by April 15, 2021)
• +$40 for transportation fees if troop is not attending Camp Mountaineer for summer camp in 2021

Camp Mountaineer:  For no additional cost beyond the Orion Project fees, transportation will be provided by Camp Mountaineer to/from SBR.  If the Scout/adult's troop did not attend Camp Mountaineer for resident camp under it's own leadership (as a troop with 2-deep leadership) in 2021, a $40 transportation fee will be assessed.

If a participant's troop is attending week 4 at Camp Mountaineer, they may be able to come to camp with their troop and then join the transportation to SBR.  Camp Mountaineer will transport the Orion Project participants to SBR on Sunday and return on Saturday.  Details of transportation timing will be verified at a later date.

Adult Leadership:  Adults are welcome to attend Orion Project for the same fee as the youth.  Scouts are able to attend without adults from their troop (provisionally) with SBR providing the necessary adult leadership for the program.
