Damsel and Dragonflies Capture: In Air and Water

Join us on a stream trek that includes wet nets for capturing "baby" dragonflies and damsel flies. Get up close and personal with your catch using a projecting microscope and see how scary these little creatures really are. Observe these amazing insects BEFORE metamorphosis, a change that leaves them winged. Then try a dry net to capture adult dragonflies and damsel flies. Its a challenge, they are mighty fast. Find out the scientific name of your species AND then give it a name you choose, before you release it back near the lake that is its home.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

• Please wear close toed shoes you can get muddy and wet in the stream and bring a plastic grocery bag with a second pair of dry shoes for running around in. That bag will be great to put your muddy shoes back in for the car ride home.
