Family Fishing Day
DATE: May 17th, 2025
TIME: Come When You Can, Stay as long as you like. We will be there from 8 till Noon.
LOCATION: Bear Rocks State Park in Triadelphia, WV (not far from the Highlands Shopping Center)*
DESCRIPTION:
- Boys and girls of Cub Scout age (entering Kindergarten to 5th grade) and their families are welcome to our FREE Family Fishing Day.
- Try to land your first fish or bring in a bigger one that might have gotten away! Mountaineer Area Council of Scouting America will provide poles and bait. If you want to bring your pole, that is great too!
- There will be several stations to check out, because fishing is an art. Check them all out!
- Casting your pole
- Knot tying-so that you can easily handle a snag, or put on a special lure “by yourself”
- Learn from a WV Department of Natural Resources Pro about the fish in the Bear Rocks multiple lakes and the animals that call that park their home.
- Check out prehistoric fish, like dinosaur fish
- Catch a fish on your own

*DIRECTIONS TO BEAR ROCKS STATE PARK - TRIADELPHIA, WV
- FROM I70 East take exit 11 “Dallas Pike”
- At exit stop sign take a left going under the interstate.
- Take first right, follow for 3.3 miles to Lake Road and follow park signs. First lake of three is a children's and disabled fishing site only, follow through to the large parking lot of the full park.
