Okpik - Winter Camping Training

Okpik (pronounced Ook’pick) is the Inuit name for a Snowy Owl. The Okpik course aims to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to enjoy an outdoor experience in cold weather, to share their acquired knowledge and skills with their units, and to help Scout units extend their outing season to all 12 months of the year.
Okpik training is open to all levels of Scout leaders (Scouts BSA, Venturing) and mature Scouting youth (at least 14 years old or in the 8th grade). Limited to 30 total participants.
Cost: $65, $60 for Co-op members.
All previous Okpik participants are invited to join our Staff to refresh your skills and train the next bunch of eager Okpikians. Please let us know you'll join us by registering (no fee).
Q: Will the overnights be outdoors? A: Doing so safely is of course part of the training, but your outdoor camping this weekend is optional.
