East Texas, Tyler in particular, has a long, proud history of serving our youth through the East Texas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Scouting is – and always has been – founded on the premise that you must serve others to be a good citizen. For over 100 years, Tyler Scouts and their volunteer leaders have committed their time and energy to serving others with sincerity and conviction.

Through its programs, the Boy Scouts of America instills values in young people, preparing them to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes. In Scouting, young people learn leadership, develop character, and serve their communities with the caring guidance and mentorship of adult volunteers.

Mr. Gibson is a man of faith and has served as Council President for the East Texas Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. He currently serves as CEO and Director for both Southside Bank and Southside Bancshares, Inc. He is active in the East Texas community and beyond, serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bethesda Health Clinic, Director and Executive Committee Member of the Tyler Economic Development Council, and a Board Member of the R.W. Fair Foundation.
