Veterans Day Parade El Paso

The United American Veterans Organization (UAVO) is inviting your organization to participate in the annual Veterans Day parade on Saturday, November 09. 2024 in downtown El Paso. Streets will be blocked at 9:30 A.M. Floats need to be in place no later than 9:00 A.M. Even though the parade dose not start until 10:00 A.M., the feeder streets for the line up will be closed early by the police.

The theme for this year’s parade is:” In Honor of our Past and Present Military History”

All parade officials will be wearing a red jacket and a parade official cap.

SAFETY CONTRAINTS

“According to city ordinance it is prohibited to distribute candy, flags, etc. from any vehicle participating in the parade”.

FLOATS CANNOT BE OVER 14 FEET TALL because of the streetcar power lines and the possibility of electrical shock/arcing. Flag bearers be Cautious of electrical/shock or death.

A safety form is to be filled out before you can participate 

Five (5) Porta Potties will be located behind the Former Veterans Transitional Living Center 818 Myrtle Street.

All members of the UAVO ensure that your membership dues have been paid. There is no registration fee for organizations to participate in the parade. However, if your organization would like to make a donation to the UAVO to help support the cost of funding the parade and other special community activities, you may enclose a check with this entry application. You may send checks and entry forms to C/O Wilfred R. Garza, UAVO Secretary, at 11820 Auburn Sand Dr., El Paso, TX 79934-3149. Make checks payable to “UNITED AMERICAN VETERANS ORGANIZATION. All participates must fill out the enclosed forms and returned them in order to participate.

The parade order of LINE UP is based on upon the time and date these forms are received.

PLEASE REMEMBER: Military color guard/ marching units, Fort Bliss General, combined veteran marching unit and local dignitaries will be in the front.

Please be cautious with roads being close.  Try to enter through Texas or Myrtle, East side Please. All traffic and  Roads will close at 09:30 am.

Organizations will be put in order received; first one in is next in line.  If organizations in the same unit have different dates and time that is the order placed,  We will not group you behind each other if you are late in transmitting your form.  Please remember each street can holds a max of three total pickup with trailer or floats.  Please,  Do not block streets by over crowding the streets with poor planning.  If write down three vehicle then three vehicles are allowed no extras at last minute you will be escorted out by police department. or cited for blocking traffic.  Please be specific. No Extras!

1.  Arrive before 09:00 am, Streets will be blocked at 09:30 am. Remember there is Construction going on Downtown. Parking for buses is on Mills street. And Social Security parking lot on Florence Street.

2. The Parade Route has been adjusted because of Road Construction. All line-ups will “face “ Myrtle Street. You will be placed on North or South Sides of Myrtle street. YOU WILL BE TRAVELING WEST ON MYRTLE STREET TO START PARADE.

3. Parade officials will help you into your correct position. Line-up is on the North and South sides of Myrtle Street.

4. Porta-Potties and wash stations will be located on South St. Vrain Street. Behind Former Veterans Transitional Living Center.

5. Start point is Campbell and Myrtle. End Point is Texas and N. Florence Street.

6. Remember “NOTHING” may be passed out or thrown to the Spectators.

7. No Unit or Organization may stay over 30 seconds in front of reviewing area. This causes unnecessary delays and too much stop and go for units behind you.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

NO FLOATS OR VEHICLES MAY BE OVER 14 FEET IN HEIGHT. LOWER YOUR FLAGS AND AVOID CONTACT WITH WIRES; WARN OTHER IF NECESSARY. PLEASE BE SAFE AND WATCH OUT FOR YOUR FELLOW BEINGS. PROTECT THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU.
