2024 Beach Sweep

When: September 6-8, 2024

Where: Lakewood Camping Resort, Myrtle Beach

Open to all Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturers or Sea Scouts, leaders and their families from the York District and Palmetto Council. Guide to Safe Scouting must be followed at all times regardless of the campground's rules. Per the Guide to Safe Scouting, no youth are allowed to drive golf carts regardless of campground or personal rules.

For the Cub program, families (direct parents) can attend as parents. For Scouts BSA, effective 9/1/23, you will need to follow the guidelines that everyone camping as adults would need to be leaders (see the new policy HERE). Registration firmly closes on August 25th. NO RESERVATIONS THROUGH LAKEWOOD CAMPGROUND WILL BE ACCEPTED.

We will take part in the Beach Sweep/River Sweep by cleaning sections of the beach and inland. The cost will be $162/per site for the weekend. Patches will be included. One site is to be reserved for every 8 campers. All participants, youth or adult, MUST camp and register with a unit. Unit leaders are responsible for ALL registration. Beach Sweep Patches are only guaranteed for youth participants. If we have extras, we will distribute them as best we can to adult leaders.

Directions: Address is 5901 South King's Highway, Myrtle Beach, SC. After Conway, on Highway 501, take Highway 544 until it ends at Business 17. Turn left. Lakewood is about 1.5 miles on right.

Do not stop at Lakewood office to check-in! Proceed to Security Guard building, then stop at the BSA Scout HQ to obtain parking passes, site assignment(s), patches,and then you can set up. Mackenzie will be there to check you in. Same location as past years.

Throughout registration and even after the deadline, expect additional coummunication; the goal is to ensure that up-to-date information on protective requirements/recommendations is available and followed as required.

When you register, we are asking that you list your 1st, 2nd and 3rd campsite preference. A list of sites is listed to the right of this screen and a map can be found HERE. We will do the best we can to get you at least one of your preferences, but we cannot guarantee your preferred campsite will be available.
