IOLS - Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills

  • 48 maximum participation
  • Cost: $35/person
  • Times: Saturday 8:00 am - Sunday 12:00 pm
  • Participants are immersed in the Patrol Method in this hands-on training session. The goal of this course is to provide a working model of the boy-led troop learning many of the basic Scouting skills needed to attain the rank of First Class Scout. Adult leaders will experience skills instruction via the EDGE method in the context of a weekend campout with the troop, all wrapped up in plenty of Scout Spirit! This course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scouts BSA Troops in order to wear the Trained patch, and is a prerequisite for Wood Badge.

 

BALOO - Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation

  • 48 maximum participants
  • Cost: $30/person
  • Times: Saturday 8:00 am - Sunday 12:00 pm
  • It is required that Packs have at least one leader present on any outdoor camping trip for Cubs and Webelos with this training.

 

Certified Leave No Trace Trainer Course

  • 14 maximum participants
  • Training for adults and youth ages 14+
  • Cost: $150/person
  • Times: Saturday 8:00 am - Sunday 2:00 pm
  • This LNT.org Certified two-day course assists student participants in learning more about the seven principles of Leave No Trace, and techniques for disseminating these low impact skills. Successful graduates of the Trainer Course gain skills to teach Leave No Trace techniques and ethics to their clients, friends and family. Course is required for the Patrol LNT Trainer position and National Outdoor Award for Scouts.

 

Wilderness & Remote First Aid

  • 12 maximum participants
  • Training for adults and youth ages 14+
  • Cost: $175/person (American Red Cross Fee plus Food)
  • Times: Saturday 8:00 am - Sunday 5:00 pm
  • Prerequisite: First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Wilderness First Aid is a two-day, 18-hour class designed for trip leaders, camp counselors, and outdoor enthusiasts. This emergency response training includes patient assessment, musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, splinting, and a variety of other topics.
  • This course is required for treks at National High Adventure Bases.
