BALOO - Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation

Date: November 22-23 (8am check-in - 9am dismissal on Sunday)
Cost:  $35.00 (to cover food and basic program supplies)

Description:

The Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is a two-part training program designed by Scouting America to prepare Cub Scout leaders for a safe and successful pack or den overnight campout. A pack must have at least one BALOO-trained adult present on all overnight camping trips.

The training includes:

• An online prerequisite module that covers basic planning
• An in-person, overnight practical session that provides hands-on outdoor skills training

The course gives leaders the knowledge and confidence to plan and conduct a fun and educational outdoor experience for Cub Scouts and their families. Topics include:

• Outdoor cooking
• Safety and first aid
• Planning age-appropriate outdoor activities
• Campsite selection
• Outdoor ethics and environmental stewardship
