BALOO Training (Fall 2026)

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)
FOR ALL CUB-LEVEL SCOUTERS! A BALOO-trained leader must be present at any pack overnighter or Webelos/AOL den overnight trips!
When: October 10-11, 2026 (Saturday 8:00am through Sunday 11:00am) Virtual Pre-meeting will be on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm You will receive an email from Steve Smith, Jr. with the details prior to the 29th
Location: Camp Karoondinha, 225 Thomas Dam Road, Millmont PA
Registration Deadline: September 25, 2026.
What is BALOO training?
BALOO training covers essential topics for Cub Scout leaders, including camp setup, cooking and sanitation, safety and first aid, event planning, and outdoor skills. It also emphasizes health and safety, equipment preparation, and parent involvement in camping activities.
This training will be held outdoors so please plan to bring appropriate sleeping equipment and gear for the weather. A general gear list is linked below.
Prerequisites:
You must complete the online portion of the BALOO training. The online portion of the training is located on www.my.scouting.org. Once you log into your my.scouting.org account, click on My Training, and then click on Expanded Learning and select BALOO from the menu. The online portion takes approximately 35 minutes to complete. Once you complete the training, please print out the completed training certificate and email to Course Director Steve Smith Jr at smitty7997@yahoo.com.
Parts A and B of the Scouting America Health form are required to bring it with you to the training on October 10, 2026.
*Please note that there will be a pre-meeting for the Fall Course on September 29th, you will receive an email from Steve Smith, Jr. with the details after registration closes on September 25th.
