Klondike Derbies 2020

The Lake Erie Council is excited to offer 5 outdoor Klondike Derbies and one Indoor LCCC Challenge “Commodorepalooza” event in 2020!

A Klondike derby is an annual event held by the Boy Scouts of America during the winter months and is based on the heritage of the Klondike Gold Rush.

Ever since 1949… the typical Klondike derby consists of several stations where patrols/units must test their Scoutcraft skills and their leadership abilities, earning points towards a total score.

It began operating as a Scout Camp in 1946 and has grown into a year-round facility with camping for Scouts and families.

Stigwandish

Camp Stigwandish was added to the Lake Erie Council in January 2017. Stigwandish is located in Madison, Ohio and offers over 20 campsites, six cabins, four ranges, a GAGA pit, volleyball court, three lakes, a COPE course, trading post, dining hall, training center, nature center and more. The camp sits on the banks of Mill Creek and is over 300 acres.

Firelands

Firelands Scout Reservation is about 70% wooded. Camp Wyandot features a 23-acre lake with an island connected by a peninsula, a best-in-class climbing tower and high ropes course, and 16 beautiful rustic campsites. Camp Avery Hand is home to a dozen camping sites, and cabins available to families and unit that sleep four to 32 people! Recent improvements in 2017 include a stunning renovation to the Avery Hand shower house, and a brand-new Human Foosball Court.
