RSC Radio Field Day

What is field day?
Field Day is an event where your Scouts get to do something most kids never experience — actually making live radio contacts with operators hundreds of miles away, using portable stations set up right in the field. No license required; a licensed operator runs the station while your Scouts get on the mic. It's hands-on STEM, emergency preparedness in action, and genuinely exciting for kids — and it counts toward the Radio Merit Badge. If you're looking for an event that sparks curiosity and gives your unit a memorable experience, Field Day is it.
ARRL Field Day is the largest amateur radio event in the United States, held every year on the fourth full weekend of June. Thousands of ham radio operators across the country set up portable stations outdoors and spend 24 hours making as many contacts as possible — practicing the skills needed to communicate when normal infrastructure fails. It's part competition, part public demonstration, and part community celebration of wireless technology. You can learn more about the national event at arrl.org/field-day.
Open to Packs, Troops, Ships, and Crews.
