WELCOME TO NYLT!
NYLT is a six-day, overnight course that emphasizes hands-on learning in a fun, engaging environment. The course is youth-led, adult supervised. Participants camp overnight onsite and must be able to attend the entire week.
2026 COURSE OPTIONS:
Dan Beard Council is offering two NYLT course options in 2026, both running the co-ed, Linked-Troop Model.
Note: There will be no fall course offering in 2026.
Course 1: Sunday, June 7th - Friday, June 12th, 2026. Co-ed, Linked-Troop Model.
Course 2: Sunday, June 14th - Friday, June 20th, 2026. Co-ed, Linked-Troop Model.
INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATIONS:
All participants must be paid in full prior to the first day of course in order to participate.

LOCATION:
Dan Beard Council's NYLT program is held at our beautiful Camp Michaels property in northern Kentucky.

PARTICIPATION ELIGIBILITY:
To attend an NYLT course, youth must meet the following qualifications by the beginning of the course:
- Must be a registered member of a Scouting unit.
- Must have a current Annual Health and Medical Record form parts A, B, and C.
- Scouts BSA members must be at least 13 years old by the first day of the course and no older than 17 years old. They must also have completed the Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops and achieved the rank of First Class.
- Venturers and Sea Scouts must be at least 14 years old (or 13 and completed eighth grade) and can be no older than 20 years old. They must have completed Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews or Ships and have some basic camping experience.
KENTUCKY SALES TAX:
The state of Kentucky charges a 7% sales tax on this activity (6% sales tax and 1% transient room tax).
If you are a unit with a tax exemption under your chartering organization AND you are paying using the unit's account, you do not have to pay this tax. All others must pay this tax.
- If you are claiming tax exemption, you must send your supporting documents to Michelle Byrne at michelle.byrne@scouting.org.
- Documentation MUST be received within 14 days of registering. Supporting documents include the unit's tax exemption certificate and a completed tax exemption certification form found at this link.
- Failure to submit documentation will result in the sales tax being added to the registration.

REFUND POLICY:
The Dan Beard Council will refund all but $50 per Scout for those who contact the NYLT Admin at nylt.dbc.lt@gmail.com, no later than 30 days prior to their arrival at NYLT. You may replace a registration with another, unregistered scout at no additional fee.
No refunds will be given after the 30-day cancellation deadline.
