Wilderness First Aid Course

The Scouting America New Hampshire High Adventure Committee will be hosting an American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid course. Training instruction will be provided by the Harvard Sportsman's Club Wilderness First Aid training team. The American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid course is a 16 hour program delivered over two days. Participants must attend the full program to receive the Wilderness First Aid certification. This course meets the requirements set by Scouting America for backcountry adventures and National High Adventure Bases.
Wilderness and Remote First Aid Course

This 16 Hour Wilderness and Remote First Aid (WRFA) Course provides students with an introductory understanding of wilderness first aid. Hands –on course labs, scenarios and repetition ensure students are engaged and learning for the duration of the course. ARC WRFA courses combine multiple styles of learning to help you learn and remember course information after the course is complete.
Topics to be covered: Golden Hour, Initial Survey, Primary Survey, Secondary Survey, Documentation, Moving Patients, Shock, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Soft Tissue Injuries, Environmental Concerns – Heat & Cold, Allergies, Breathing Issues, Bites & Stings, Diabetes, Lightning, Scenarios.
Students should come prepared to be outside in the elements and to bring your day pack or backpack loaded with whatever you bring with you into a remote setting.
CPR or higher care is a pre-requisite for certification. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a link by email to an American Red Cross WRFA Card which is good for two years from the date of the course. All students must attend and actively participate for the entire course for successful completion.

Location for the course is Camp Carpenter – Lee training Center, Manchester, NH. Registered students will receive course details by email prior to the class
Please note the following:
1) Maximum course registration is 12 participants.
2) Course fee does not include overnight camping at Camp Carpenter. If you would like to tent camp for the weekend please visit the Camp Carpenter facility reservation portal.
3. Participants must supply their own lunch each day.
