Leave No Trace Level 1 Training

Event Details

Save the Date: October 9-11, 2026. More information to come. Prices subject to change.

The Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor course is a great training for adult leaders who would like to take their knowledge of Leave No Trace Principles to the next level. After completing this course, you will be a Level 1 Leave No Trace Certified Instructor, able to teach Leave No Trace to other adults and youth.

This course is a two-day program that teaches the ideals and practices of Outdoor Ethics and the hands on ways you can show your unit on how to live the principles. Adult participants will learn about the Leave No Trace Seven Principles and the skills necessary to implement these ethics while in the outdoors. The course also includes basic teaching techniques and, as such, will help a scouter to teach Outdoor Ethics to other adults and youth.

Participants should be prepared for a short backpacking trek on one of the days and to give a brief presentation on a Leave No Trace topic.

In addition to weather appropriate attire, all participants must bring their Annual Health and Medical Record (Parts A/B) to the training. The AHMR can be found at https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/ahmr/

Participans are expected to camp overnight, bring appropriate camping gear for the weather, and food and water for themselves for the weekend.
