Science Center Carbondale

Who:  Tigers, Webelos

When: Friday, March29, 2019 (Tigers) and  Friday April 5th, 2019 (Webelos)

What:  Learn from the Science Center Carbondale staff and enjoy the fun activities and adventures they have in their facility. The program will be focused on earning specific STEM-based Adventure Belt Loops/Pins within Cub Scout advancement program.  
Tigers will earn the Curiosity, Intriuge, and Magical Mysteries, Webelos will earn Adventures in Science. This event also helps Scouts get started on earning their STEM NOVA awards. Scouts will complete requirements 2 & 5 of either the Down & Dirty NOVA, Out of This World NOVA, Swing NOVA, or Talk Tech NOVA.  

Time: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Sign-ins begin at 3:45p)
Scouts are welcome to stay after the program is over, and explore the Science Center.  

Where:
Science Center Carbondale- located in University Mall (1237 E. Main St. Carbondale, Illinois 62901)

Cost:  $13.00 per Scout. 

Payment:  Mastercard, VISA, and Discover.  Payments and registration will only be accepted online. Registrations and cancellations will be accepted no later than 2 days before event. Substitutions from the Pack will be allowed. 

NO late registrations or walk-ins will be accepted.  Cub Scout participants will be capped at 15 per class. First come, first served.  

Scouts must be in the care of a responsible adult during the event.  Please bring portable chairs. The facility will only have enough chairs for the Scouts.

Descriptions of Each Class

Curiosity, Intrigue, and Magical Mysteries (Tigers):This adventure helps Tigers explore how things work. Tigers and their adult partners will learn about cracking codes and solving mysteries, as well as discover how science helps us solve problems and understand why things work in certain ways. .

Adventures in Science (Webelos): For this adventure, Webelos learn about the scientific method and explore some different areas of science.
