About Camp Lewallen

Nestled in Southeast Missouri, beneath the majestic presence of Mt. Logan, lies Camp Lewallen—a pristine 580-acre camping haven. Embarking on a journey of adventure, visitors are enchanted by the beauty of Lake Potashnick and the St. Francis River, offering an abundance of fun water-based activities. Moreover, the vast forest expanse spanning hundreds of acres embraces guests, crafting an unparalleled camping oasis for unforgettable experiences.

Event Information

  • Location: Camp Lewallen (1588 Wayne Route K, Silva, MO 63964)
  • Dates/Times:  Choose one of three registration options. Registration ends March 15.
    • April 8 (day only):  $30 per person for ages 4+ (ages 3 and under free)
    • April 7-8 (two days, one night):  $90 per person for ages 4+ (ages 3 and under free)
    • April 6-8 (three days, two nights):  $120 per person for ages 4+ (ages 3 and under free)
  • Who: Open to the public! This is not a Scouting event (though Scouts are welcome of course).

 

Tentative Schedule

  • Saturday, April 6
    • Noon  - Check-In (till 7 p.m. main gate):  no activities provided this day. Self guided tour of camp - trails / lake, etc.
  • Sunday, April 7
    • 8:30 a.m. - Check-In (available until 5 p.m.)
    • 9 a.m. to Noon - Camp activities:  Hike to top of Mt. Logan, Archery, Canoes, STEM Van, or Climbing & Rapelling Tower
    • Noon to 2 p.m. - Lunch / free time (meals not provided)
    • 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. - Camp activities:  Hike to top of Mt. Logan, Archery, Canoes, STEM Van, or Climbing & Rapelling Tower
    • 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Dinner / free time (meals not provided)
    • 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. - Camp activities:  Movies in the dining hall
    • 10 p.m. - Lights out, quiet time, enjoy campfires, etc.   
  • Monday, April 8
    • 9 a.m. to Noon - Camp activities:  Archery, Canoes, STEM Van, or Climbing & Rapelling Tower
    • Noon to 2 p.m. - Lunch (meals not provided) / prepare for eclipse viewing / no camp activities
    • Start of Partial: Monday, Apr 8, 2024 at 12:33 pm CDT
    • Start of Totality:  Monday, Apr 8, 2024 at 1:57 pm CDT
    • End of Totality:  Monday, Apr 8, 2024 at 2:01 pm CDT
    • End of Partial: Monday, Apr 8, 2024 at 3:17 pm CDT
    • 5 p.m. - Guests are asked to depart by 5 p.m.   

Accomodations and Important Info

  • Guests (family of 2-6) for Saturday and Sunday will be given an area of 20 x 20 for tent camping or 20 x 50 if bringing a RV/5th wheel.  There are no electric or water hookups. There is not a dump station available for RVs/Campers onsite.
  • If tent camping or bringing RV/5th wheel, cars/trucks must be parked in the adjacent parking lot.  At check-in, camp maps, schedule, and eclipse glasses will be provided.   
  • Monday registrants can find open spaces outside the camping area for eclipse viewing.   
  • Meals are not provided.
  • A shower house, bathrooms, and water spigots are available near the camping areas.   
  • Parents need to be in charge of children and have basic first aid available.    Small children may not be able to do the Climbing Tower if they cannot fit in a harness.  
  • Cancellations made 30 days or more in advance will receive a 75% refund. Cancellations made less than 30 days in advance are not eligible for a refund.
