Boy Scout NOVA Day 2017

Let it Grow! NOVA Award

Join the experts at the Saint Louis Science Center, and their STEM spin, to earn your Let it Grow NOVA and Animal Science Merit Badge!

Scouts will spend the day working, creating, and problem solving as they learn about agriculture and plant & animal science! This exclusive experience in agricultural innovation fulfills requirements for the NOVA “Let it Grow!” AND the Animal Science Merit Badge. Scouts will learn about the science behind where our food comes from in the Science Center's GROW and Life Science Labs! This will be an extremely fun and hands-on way to earn both these awards.

Scouts should bring a signed merit badge card. NOVA cards will be distributed. Attending the event does not guarantee that the Scouts will earn the awards.

Early Bird Price is $25 per Boy Scout. No fees for adults. Please bring a sack lunch. Late Registration Price is $30 per scout starting March 18th.

Proposed schedule:

Chicken Chat - Meet our flock of chickens, feed them a chicken treat and learn some surprising facts about this backyard and farm livestock.

Combine Talk - Join the GROW team for a fascinating presentation on combine technology, facts and a live demonstration of the combine. The GROW team starts the engine and highlights the features.

AG-BOT - Ever hear of an AG-BOT? Technology and farming go hand in hand as you will witness with this specially designed agriculture robot. Roaming the rows and gathering data, this AG-BOT helps farmers make decisions about how to care for their crops. Hear how this robot is working to gather on-site research for a local university.

Scouts should be in the care of a responsible adult or Troop leader.

Unfortunately we cannot accept late registrations or day of event walk-ins.
