Entrepreneurship Merit Badge Workshop  
sponsored by FEE and The Duree Center for Entrepreneurship in the Hammond Institute at Lindenwood University

Earn the BSA Entrepreneurship Merit Badge in Just One Day!

Empower yourself for lifelong success by learning the importance of ethical entrepreneurship, strong character, and thinking with an entrepreneurial mindset. Discover invaluable economic concepts, leadership skills, critical and creative thinking skills, and interview a real entrepreneur. Scouts will team up, create business plans, and practice speaking skills as they compete in BSA 'Shark Tank' with real judges and prizes!

Plus, Scouts will meet all requirements to earn the Entrepreneurship Merit Badge in just 5-hours. Space is limited, so register today.

Date: Saturday, July 14th

$10 per Scout, late fee of $5 after June 23rd
Free for adult chaperone

Drop off time: 8:45-9:00am
Pickup time: 2:00pm

Location: Dropoff and Pickup at Lindenwood University – Student Athlete Center - Park in the Harmon Hall lower lot

Snacks, if desired
Completed pre-work assignment (attached)
Pen or pencil
Pre-filled Blue Card
Please wear full Class A field uniform
Watch any episode of 'Shark Tank' (pay attention to the beginning “pitch”) available on Youtube

Lunch: Provided to all Scouts and adults 

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early and bring something to write with.   Scouts do need to be in the care of responsible adult while on campus. 

Program outline: 

The workshop is divided into 6 parts. It is a mix of short videos, group discussion, group activities, and presentations by the Scouts:

Welcome and Opening Remarks (5 mins)
Part 1: What is Entrepreneurship? (25 mins) [Short videos, discussion]
Part 2: Traits and Skills of an Entrepreneur (25 mins: Group Discussion)
Break (5 mins)
Part 3: Interview with an Entrepreneur (45 mins)
Part 4: Generate Your Business Idea (10 mins)
Part 5: Create Your Business Plan (100 mins: Group Activity & Lunch)
Part 6: Shark Tank Presentations (60 mins)
Conclusion & Awards (15 mins)
