Inaugural Council Pinewood Derby - Celebrating 70 years of pinewood car racing!

Join us on the morning of Saturday, April 29 at World Wide Technology Raceway for a council wide competition and other fun.

For all Cub Scouts, and a league for Scouts BSA and Venturing to compete!    Don't miss this grand time!  

The Pinewood Derby is one of the highlights of a Cub Scout's year and great memories for older Scouts.  This event will bring Scouts from across the council to have some fun as they race their cars to see who has the fastest one.  

This event is open to ALL Cub Scouts in the Council, regardless of a Scout's placement at their home Pack's or District race.

Fee is only $5 per car to enter, all spectators are free.  Please register by April 22.   Youth under 18 must be in the care of a responsible adult.

9:00 am to 2 pm, Scouts will compete by rank in Cub Scouts, and Scouts BSA and Venturing will have a separate competition.

After April 22nd, Scouts will be sent instructions on race day details and the time their car will race.   The first 250 Scouts will be guaranteed a commemorative patch and a display case for their car.   A drawing is available to win a Soap Box Derby Car and the chance to compete in the St. Louis Race on The Hill in June 2023.  

There will be displays to check out while at the track and watch university students test some innovative car designs.  Concessions will be available throughout the event.   The go-kart track may be available to try at an extra fee.    

Trophies (1st, 2nd, & 3rd) will be given out and to the top 20% racers, and for the top 3 in the Scouts BSA / Venturing league. 

There will also be trophies presented to the winners of the design contest - Pinewood 70th Anniversary, Most Realistic, Novel Design, Patriotic Spirit, Kid Did, Classic Design, Scouting Spirit, and Judge's Special.
