Before attending the WFA Skills Demonstration Day, you must have proof of current CPR/AED certification where your skills are evaluated by an instructor of the agency running the course. The course must include compression and rescue breaths (Compression only CPR or Online only courses are not a valid substitute).
You may choose the WFA team’s offering of this CPR/AED requirement through ECSI. It is blended online learning at your own pace (allow about 1-2 hrs.), and then an additional Skills Demonstration Session 90 minutes prior to your WFA Skills Demonstration.

Course Details: Blended online and in-person
This training helps you recognize and respond to emergency situations and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults (persons over 8 years of age). Complete the online content on your own and at your own pace before your selected CPR Skills Demonstration. The online content covers caring for conscious and unconscious choking victims, CPR, rescue breaths, and the use of an AED. You will also need to register for your required 90 min CPR/AED Skills Demonstration Session (to complete certification).

Course Details
Greater St. Louis Area Council’s Wilderness First Aid (WFA) 16-hour blended learning course is consistent with guidelines established for and by the Boy Scouts of America. This course is designed to meet the needs of those who go into areas beyond the reach of urban EMS when help is delayed. It is required for those units going to BSA National High Adventure Bases (Philmont, Sea Base, the Summit, and Northern Tier). It is recommended for back country camping, hiking, canoeing, or other high adventure activities. The certification is good for two years.
Please note: You must be certified in CPR with AED before taking this course. This prerequisite must be a certification course where your skills are evaluated by an instructor of the agency running the course. The course must include compression and rescue breaths. Compression-only CPR or online only courses are not a valid substitute. A CPR course is offered as part of WFA if needed. Please see details on the WFA registration page.
