2026 Jefferson Barracks Veterans Honor Hike & Food Drive

Registration Opens: 9:00 a.m.
Location: Jefferson Barracks Park – Powder Magazine Museum Area
Open to: All Units!

Join us for the 2026 Veterans Honor Hike at Jefferson Barracks Park! This meaningful event brings Scouts together for a day of learning, exploration, and service as they visit memorials, connect with Veterans, and take part in a parkwide scavenger hunt.

Event Highlights

  • Flexible hike distances — units choose the route and length that best fits their Scouts.
  • Veterans Heritage Scavenger Hunt — Scouts will explore park memorials and monuments using a clue list designed to help them learn about military history and service.
  • Food Drive — We will be collecting nonperishable food donations for the onsite pantry. Scouts are encouraged to bring contributions as part of their service.
  • Meet Veterans — A great opportunity for Scouts to talk with Veterans and hear their stories.
  • Special Unit Awards — Earnable recognitions will be available based on participation and activities during the hike.

Arrival & Registration

Enter the park from S. Broadway
Turn onto Grant Rd.
Left onto Gark Road
Continue to Bagby St. and turn right
Follow Bagby St. up to the Powder Magazine Museum

Flags will mark the registration area. Parking is available on-site.

At the registration table, units will receive:

  • Hike maps
  • Scavenger hunt sheets
  • All additional materials needed for the day

What to Bring

  • Water (each Scout should have their own)
  • Packed lunch (optional)
  • Nonperishable food donations
  • Comfortable walking shoes

Scouts may end their hike early if needed. Those completing the full route will return to the parking area.

Why This Event Matters

Held one week before the Memorial Day Good Turn, this hike helps Scouts deepen their understanding of military service while honoring the sacrifices of our Veterans through learning, exploration, and service.
