2026 Special Needs Awareness Training

Join us for an engaging Special Needs Awareness Training designed for Scouts of all ages, leaders, parents, and volunteers! This hands-on day offers something for everyone—interactive activities for Cub Scouts, the Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge for Scouts BSA, and informative classes for adults and youth leaders.
Learn directly from professionals in Special Needs and Education and gain practical tools, strategies, and confidence to better serve every Scout. Whether you’re new to Scouting or a seasoned leader, this training will inspire you to create more inclusive, supportive, and successful Scouting experiences.

Location: First Christian Church
310 S. Main Street, Edwardsville, IL
Check-in: 9:00 AM
Training: 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Upon arrival, participants will be organized into groups—Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Adults/Parents/Leaders/Youth Leadership. All groups will remain in the same general area while participating in age-appropriate programming led by our Special Needs Committee staff.
Lunch: To help keep costs low, lunch will not be provided. Please bring a sack lunch, drinks, and snacks for the day.

We are seeking youth and adult volunteers to help support both the Cub Scout and Scouts BSA programs. If you’re interested, please register online as a staff member.
