2026 Southern Illinois Cub Scout and Community Pinewood Derby

March 14, 2026 @ John A. Logan College, Carterville, IL

Check-in: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM - Race starts promptly at 1:30 PM
Be sure to arrive no later than 1:00 pm so that you can check-in your car. 

Cost: $5 Per person (Cub Scout and Community)

Derby Categories:

Cub Scout Invitational - This is our annual race for our Cub Scouts.  Join units from around southern Illinois for an afternoon of racing, and fun.  We encourage Packs to send their winning cars from their individual derbies. 

Community Invitational (Standard Class) - Our standard class community race is open to all cars, that follow our standard rule set. No age restrictions.  Challenge your friends, family, neighboring city department, etc. 

Community Invitational (F1 Open Class) - This is the race for our builders. The open F1 class is looking for the fastest cars you've ever seen.  Reduced build restrictions, a little extra weight, and materials of your choice. Show us what you got, our track can take it!!

First Responder Challenge - We are also challenging our First responders to create a car for our Community Invitational Classes. The winning department gets to be crowned the "Fastest First Responder" and take home a traveling trophy!!
