Forge Your Future! Composite Materials & Welding Merit Badges at STLCC's Advanced Manufacturing Center

8:30 am - 3:30 pm

$10 for Welding morning OR afternoon / $20 for Composites Materials all day session

Earn your merit badge choice of Composite Materials or Welding at this workshop.

Composite Materials is all day. Welding will be offered in both the morning or afternoon sessions. 

PREREQUISITES: 
Composite Materials: 
-Read the merit badge book thoroughly and be familiar with the information.
-Complete requirements 2, 4, and 6.
-Fill out the worksheet as much as possible. The Scout can use it during the review process at the end of the merit badge session.
-Our focus for the day will be to complete the projects and present an overview of the information with experts on hand. Scouts should take notes as they can use that information in addition to the information in the merit badge book and what they discover in their research during the final review.
Scouts taking Composite Materials should bring:
-The Merit Badge book (on registration page or HERE)  
-Paper and pencil 
-The merit badge workbook, available on registration page and online (meritbadge.org) 
-A POSITIVE ATTITUDE TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW!!
-LUNCH, if participating all day. (Food is not provided at this event.)

Welding:
They will focus on MIG welding. Read pamphlet and be ready to show/explain #1a & b; #2a-c; #3; #4; and #7. They should complete 5a based on MIG welding. Wear long sleeve cotton shirt and jeans, closed toed shoes. 
Scouts taking Welding should bring:
-Merit Badge Book (suggested)
-Paper and a Pencil
-Wear long sleeve cotton shirt and jeans, closed toed shoes (leather boots preferred).

Scouts will also have an opportunity to tour the new facility and work with professionals and staff of the St. Louis Community College while learning about career opportunities in the STEM fields.
