The Pinewood Derby is one of the highlights in a Cub Scout's year.  This event brings Cub Scouts from across the district to have some fun one more time as they race their cars to see who has the fastest car in West County.  

This event is open to ALL Cub Scouts in the New Horizons District, regardless of a Scout's placement at their home pack's race.

We ask the pack leadership to submit the registration for the total number of Scouts participating from your pack.

Important Notes - PLEASE READ

• Due to COVID-19 the 2021 NH District Pinewood Derby will be totally virtual.  Racers will not be present during race time but will be able to watch from our Facebook Live video (New Horizons Facebook page) and YouTube live video.
• There will be no pit for any modifications during check in – bring your own tools if you feel there could be issues during check in – any modifications will need to be completed outside of the race building except for ADDING weight.
• The Top 12 Cars will race in the Grand Finals.  The Top 50 cars will receive trophies.

Check-In Procedures

• Racer or Pack will register on this webpage.  During registration, a check-in time must be selected for each registered racer.  Check-in times will be on Wednesday Evening and Friday Evening – It is especially important that Racers and Adult Partner is present only during the time they selected so COVID guidelines can be practiced by all.  Do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your scheduled time.  The number of racers to check in at any given time will be limited.  Location of drop-off & pick-up: Emerson Center at Beaumont Scout Reservation
• MASK THAT COVERS THE MOUTH AND NOSE MUST BE WORN BY ALL PARTICPANTS AT ALL TIMES DURING CHECK IN AND WHEN PICKING UP CAR
• If you are late or miss your selected check-in time, you will be asked to wait in your car until we can safely work you in.  There is no guarantee of how long this will take.
• At time of arrival at Emerson Center – A NH District Staff member will greet Adult Partner and Racer at their car and will be given a number.  Racer and Adult partner to remain in car until their number is called to be checked in.
• Once Racers number has been called for check in – Racer and 1 Adult Partner (note – only the Racer and 1 Adult Partner will be allowed to enter Emerson for Check in) will enter Emerson Center through the front main double doors.  NOTE: For the Safety of everyone - While in Emerson Center - Racer and Adult Partner will be required to be masked during check-in.
• Racer and Adult Partner will move from station to station for the standard Check in process while being instructed when to move to the next station to insure proper social distancing.
• At the last station, racer will be able to pick a no earlier than time for their race time for the Saturday race.  This will allow racers to have an idea of when they should watch the live stream to see their car race.
• Once checked in, the car will be in lock down and the Racer along with their adult partner will leave through the side door and will be free to leave (go home) at this time.

Check-Out Procedures

• Cars can be picked up following the completion of the Grand Final Races until 4PM on Saturday or Wednesday April 7th from 7 to 8:30 PM.
• Racer and Adult Partner are to come back to Emerson Center and a Drive through Pick-Up will be set up for a quick and safe return of the car. Trophies will also be handed out at that time.
