ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF SCOUTING
OVERVIEW
The University of Scouting is a fun-filled, hands-on opportunity to network and learn with over 500 Scouters. This one-day supplemental training event was created for all Cub Scout, Scouts BSA, Venturing, and Sea Scout leaders, plus Scouts BSA, Venturing, or Sea Scout youth regardless of experience. The University of Scouting will take place on Saturday, November 11. Be the best leader you can be - attend the next University of Scouting!
COLLEGES PROVIDE COURSE OFFERINGS
Choose from several different courses with an emphasis on programs, skills, and resources to deliver high-quality opportunities to the Scouting youth. Some new leader and position-specific training are offered, making this a great way to get all your leaders trained.
COLLEGES
• Two colleges are devoted to Scouting programs - Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA. Cub Scout courses include Religious Awards, Cub Scout Shooting Sports Rangemaster Training, Program Planning for Cub Scouts, Camping 101, Games that Cubs Play, Cooking with Cubs, Songs and Songleading with Cubs, Cutting the Perfect Pinewood Derby Car, Cub Scout Campfire Planning, Cub Scout Awards, Running the Perfect Pinewood Derby, Arrow of Light to Scouts BSA Transition, and Cub Scout Advancement. Scouts BSA courses include Backpacking, Annual Program Planning, Camping/Outdoor Activities, Merit Badges, Hiking, Scoutmaster Conferences, Boards of Review, Leave No Trace/Outdoor Ethics, Eagle Packets, Order of the Arrow/It's role in the Troop, Eagle Boards, and ILST for Scoutmaster.
• The General College offers classes of interest to Scouters across all programs. Courses include ScoutBook, Food Safety for Scout Units, Social Media, CPR, Advancement Ordering, Council Structure, BlackPug, and First Aid.
• The Den Chief College - offers Den Chief Training for youth who are interested in serving as a Den Chief for a Cub Scout Pack or Den. These youth will participate in Den Chief classes in the morning and ILST classes in the afternoon.
• Unit Management College - Courses include Unit Committee Structure (Board Structure), How to run a committee meeting, Minutes and Records, Taxes, Bookkeeping, and Scout Accounts.
COSTS & OTHER INFORMATION
• The Cost is $25 which covers your lunch, patch, and program supplies. CPR will have an extra $40 fee.
• The University of Scouting will be held at Crossgates United Methodist Church, 23 Crossgates Dr, Brandon, MS 39042.
