Attention friends, we are excited to announce the 2024 Resolute Challenge Camporee open to any and all Scouts, BSA units.

What is the Resolute Challenge?

The Resolute Challenge is a camporee centered around fun, demonstrating Scouting skills, and patrol teamwork. Over the course of a fun-filled weekend, Scout patrols will test themselves in a series of challenges that will demonstrate their Scouting abilities including:

Knots and lashings

First Aid

Orienteering

Tomahawk throwing

Archery

Target shooting

Woodsman skills

Fire building Wild Card events like trivia, riddles, and problem solving

And the finale, the Greased Watermelon Relay

Timing

The event will run from Friday September 27 to Sunday September 29 at historic Camp Resolute in Bolton, MA.

What are we competing for?

Prizes will be awarded for top performing patrols in each event with one overall patrol given the honor of receiving the Resolute Challenge Cup. Scores will be entirely based on a patrol’s performance rather than direct competition against each other. The scoring will be similar to that used in Track and Field events like the Decathlon, where participants are awarded points based on their level of achievement.

What else is happening during the weekend?

Troops will kick off the camporee Saturday morning with a formal opening ceremony. They'll then spend the day participating in as many events as possible, culminating in a final relay followed by a traditional Resolute campfire and awards presentation.

This sounds crazy. How did this idea come about?

In 2010, a bunch of old Eagle Scouts from Troop 1 Stow decided to create an alumni group to continue their scouting adventures and TOSA was born. TOSA (Troop One Stow Alumni, Inc.) is an official 501c3 charitable corporation dedicated to supporting scouting in Stow, Massachusetts. Today, TOSA is the official chartering organization of BSA Troop 1 Stow (B), Troop 1 Stow (G), Cub Scout Pack 39, and the Assabet Valley Venture Crew 1923.

Since 2010, TOSA members have competed in the annual TOSA Decathlon, a series of 10 events measuring skills learned in scouting, similar to the "Woodsman’s" competition held at Camp Resolute back when they were scouts. After almost 15 years of shenanigans, TOSA has decided to expand the competition to all units while celebrating Camp Resolute and the fun memories they had there over the year and the Resolute Challenge was born.
