WHY ATTEND?

Learn more in-depth about the seven principles of Leave No Trace through a field-based training experience; with a focus on teaching Leave No Trace to others in Scouting.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Scouters age 18 or older who are interested in learning in-depth about the principles of Leave No Trace and their application, teaching others through training courses such as Leave No Trace Basics, and running Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor courses in their Districts and Councils.

COURSE CONTENT:

What do Leave No Trace Level 2 Instructors Do?

  • Conduct Leave No Trace Level 1 courses
  • Deliver other Leave No Trace and Outdoor Ethics trainings
  • Lead discussions on Outdoor Ethics with local Troops, Packs, Crews and Ships as they prepare for outings
  • Train and mentor youth to serve as Outdoor Ethics Guides in their units
  • Provide leadership on Outdoor Ethics matters to the District and Council, drawing upon a wealth of knowledge and personal experience

COURSE DETAILS:

First Weekend:  April 25-27, 2024 - Check in: Friday, April 25 at 7:00 pm/Departure: Sunday, April 27 by noon
Location:  Front country at Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation

Second Weekend:  May 15-18, 2025 - Check in: Friday, May 15 at 7:00 pm/Departure: Sunday, May 15 by noon
Location Back country (hiking) at Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation

Cost:  $275 per participant

Registration Deadline:  April 4, 2025

Pre-requisites:

  • Age 18 or older as of April 25, 2025
  • Completion of the Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course, Leave No Trace Trainer course or equivalent prior experience
  • A desire to teach Leave No Trace to others
  • Preparation of a 20-minute presentation on an assigned Leave No Trace topic (will be assigned prior to arrival)

All participants will receive an email by April 11 with their teaching assignment, equipment list, and campsite location.
