WOOD BADGE

All Weekend - Sept. 16, 17, & 18

All Weekend - Oct. 1 & 2

Quivira Scout Ranch

BOTH WEEKENDS REQUIRED FOR THE COURSE

This five-day course is an advanced, national leadership course open to Scouting volunteers and professionals. It is provided by Quivira Council’s leading trainers. Scouters from Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Explorers, as well as district and council Scouters, all are welcome and belong at Wood Badge.

We do and learn about many things on course, including: Listening, Communicating, Managing Conflict, Leading Change, Understanding Team Development, Coaching and Mentoring, Leadership for Different Stages, Pack and Troop Operations, Project Planning, and, most importantly, learning to Train, Trust, and letting our Youth Lead.  These concepts are provided by our training team through presentations, games, discussions, activities, and hands-on methods. Be advised, we have a lot of fun!

You want to participate in Wood Badge because of the things you will learn and do. Here are some of the benefits:

Stronger Units. You will make our units—and your son’s and daughter’s units—stronger.

What and why of Scouting. You will have a deeper understanding of what Scouting is and why we do it. Wood Badge is not only for Troop Leaders, but is designed for leaders at all levels of Scouting. After Wood Badge, you will better understand how all the Scouting programs operate and tie together.

Experience. You will learn and experience things that will stay with you in Scouting and throughout your life.

Fun. You will have lots of fun and meet interesting people.

Other groups. You will learn skills that make other groups, like work, church, or even your family, stronger.

The Ticket: You may have heard of the The Ticket. This is simply a group of five goals you set for yourself to do after course, to improve your unit. You will learn more about it on the course.
