Aviation Merit Badge

Aviation Merit Badge Class 

In Partnership with G.E. Strother Employee Engagement Committee 

August 22nd, 2026 

What is it? This is the Aviation Merit Badge. It is for Troops and Adults 

Activities: Scouts will participate in all requirements of the Aviation Merit badge including a plant tour of GE Strother and be guided on a viewing of an airplane. It will fulfill all requirements excluding 5E which can be done as a pre req.  

When & Where: Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 8:AM-2:00PM-Checkin begins at 7:45AM and class will begin promptly at 8:00AM. We will be hosted at G.E. Strother in Building 1- 7577 4th Street, Strother Field Industrial Park, Arkansas City, Ks 67005 

Supervision: All units must have two-deep leadership in accordance with Youth Protection Guidelines, and all registered leaders must have current Youth Protection Training. 

Cost: $5 per person fee. $10 if registered after August 8th, 2026. Fee INCLUDES Event materials, Event Patch & Lunch 

Registration Closes August 15th. NO REGISTRATIONS CAN BE ACCEPTED AFTER AUGUST 15TH DUE TO POLICIES AND PROCEDURES OF FACILITY. 

Refunds: Refunds are not available, but fees may be transferred to another Scout or Adult under same registration number. 

Registration? Registration is open online on Black Pug – find the link at www.quivira.org – Things to Do. Pre-registration is required for program materials and patches to be provided to all participants. Event is open to all registered Troops, Crews and Posts. Online payment is required and may be made by credit card or electronic check 

LAST DAY TO REGISTER ONLINE IS August 8, 2026 for early registration, August 15th is the FINAL date for registration. Registration is capped at 50 youth 

Due to policies and regulations of the facility: Scouts will be required to wear close toed/closed heeled shoes. Full length pants are preferred. Due to plant tours, NO youth not registered with a Troop/Crew/Post (No dragon, Tag Along or Cub Scout) will be permitted on property. Photos and videos are prohibited and will be provided by General Electric.

Insurance? Liability, as well as Sickness and Accident Insurance are provided for all registered members of the BSA.
