New Scout Camping Skills

Are you a first year Scout or new leader and parent, and couldn’t make it to summer camp this year?  Plan to join us for one (or both!) of the weekend events at our council camps that will focus on Camping, Cooking, First Aid and Swimming requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class advancement.  As new leaders and parents of these new Scouts, you will also be learning these skills with your Scouts as we work on increasing your comfort and confidence with camping in Scouting.

We will begin Friday early evening and will work with you to set your camp up and will have you on your way home before lunch on Sunday.  We will have the food ready for you to cook in your campsite and will have staff helping you prepare the meals while teaching your Scouts and leaders how to enjoy your meal in the outdoors.

We will spend our time developing camping skills and increasing our appreciation for being outdoors. We will be sharing camp with National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) Scouts and will share some time with them, both instructional and fun!  You will interact with and learn from experienced Scouts as they focus on developing their leadership skills in Scouting.  We will explore the Patrol Method and learn why working together is always more successful and more FUN than trying to accomplish something by yourself.
