Five Creeks Cub Camporee 2025

Event Details

GOTTA CATCH'M ALL

CUB CAMPOREE

This is a large-scale family camping style with camp providing the activities and units eating/camping together.

Fun, friendly, and fellowship is our guide.

Camp staff will help support family style camping by demonstrating and guiding activities for Pack Leadership to help their youth participate. Catch your critters at our many stations: obstacle course, first aid, yard games, cooking, craft, and campfire program. District will provide target practice opportunities by trained Rangemasters.

This is a district ran event, units do not need to provide their own BALOO trained leader.

Registration deadline is April 20st.

When registering your unit, please complete as much information as possible, including participant names and unit contact information. We will need a way to contact the unit prior to the event. Units will also need to list the number of family tents. This will help us determine the size of the area for your campsite.

Families can attend just Saturday during the day but must still register and there is no discount as the price is for Saturday’s programming. Health forms should be with the check-in unit leader. Please check-in/out at Health Office.

Patches are included in cost of event and will receive at check-in.

Meals - The Cub Camporee will not be providing meals. Each unit will need to plan and bring their own meals and camp cooking equipment. Not all campsites will have a fire ring so please plan accordingly. Units are NOT allowed to make a new fire ring.

Registration will close Sunday, April 20, 2024 at 11:59pm. No on-site registration.

UPDATED - NCAP REQUIREMENTS - at check-in, all families/units/attendees must:

  • Unit leader needs to provide/verify roster of adults and scouts in attendance. Last 2 pages of the packet.
  • Each family will need to provide copies of BSA Annual Medical Forms Parts A & B for every adult, scout and non-scout youth in attendance when checking in. If families are arriving separately, please pass out health forms to families for them to bring.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING

BALOO BASIC ADULT LEADER OUTDOOR ORIENTATION & Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)

This is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters. BALOO training has two components—an online component and a practical, hands-on component. Both components must be completed to qualify as a “TRAINED” Cub Scout outdoor leader. The online component must be completed prior to the practical component. The online training contains introductory and basic information that will be built upon during the practical training.

The practical, hands-on components will take place while at Camp Collum.

Scouting’s outdoor program is a critical part of how the Scouts BSA program develops young leaders. While camping or participating in other outdoor events, your Scouts will challenge themselves to learn skills they’ve never tried before or maybe didn’t think they could do. In doing so, your Scouts will work together as a team to overcome adversity when things don’t go as planned; this is truly the magic of Scouting that no other program does as well.

To safely offer Scouting’s outdoor program, however, you need a certain set of skills and knowledge – and that’s why you’re required to take Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (also known as “IOLS”) Training. You’ll learn how to build a fire, use an axe, cook outdoors, use a map and compass, responsibly care for the outdoors, and much more. Even if you weren’t a Scout as a kid, you’ll come out of this course looking and acting like a seasoned camper. This course, combined with Youth Protection Training and the Scoutmaster-Specific Training course, will make you an “fully trained” Scouts BSA leader.

Review BALOO/IOLS attachment before registering. There are pre-req's that will need to be completed prior to attending. No time adjustment will be permitted. You will need to print competion certificates, BSA Health Form A&B and turn in at check-in.

Please register for BALOO/IOLS for this event and contact Cara Russell, cara.russell@5creeks.org.

***When registering, do not choose anything for campsite if your unit is attending. Only add if you are not attending with your unit.

GUIDE TO SAFE SCOUTING

Two registered adult leaders 21 years of age or over are required at all Scouting activities, including all meetings. There must be a registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over in every unit serving females. A registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over must be present for any activity involving female youth or female adult program participants.

Notwithstanding the minimum leader requirements, age and program-appropriate supervision must always be provided.

Cub Scout youth should attend the camping event with their parent(s)/ guardian(s).

Lions and Tigers must have their adult partner present to take part.

For all other ranks: only in exceptional circumstances, a Cub Scout whose parent or legal guardian cannot attend a unit overnight camping trip may participate under the supervision of another registered adult member of the BSA, a parent of a Cub Scout who is also attending. The unit leader and a parent or legal guardian must agree to the arrangement, and all Youth Protection policies apply. At no time may another adult accept responsibility for more than one additional “non family member” youth.

Webelos and Arrow of Light Den Camping: Each Scout should attend with their parent(s) or guardian(s). A Webelos or Arrow of Light Scout whose parent or legal guardian cannot attend a den overnight camping trip may participate under the supervision of at least two registered leaders. The leaders and a parent or legal guardian must agree to the arrangement, and all Youth Protection policies apply.

Q: Does a Cub Scout parent or legal guardian have to be a registered leader to participate in a Cub Scout overnight program with their own child/ward?

A. No. However, they cannot serve as unit or den two deep leadership or supervision.
