Scouts BSA 2020 Summer Experience

We’re in this together! Though we may be apart, we are proud to present a summer experience as we never have before. Continue your Scouting journey with us through advancement opportunities, summer camp traditions, merit badge programs, challenges, experiments, adventures, and so much more! Our intrepid team of facilitators and educators deliver content and instruct from Ransburg Scout Reservation outside of Bloomington, IN through a variety of formats, platforms and media. 

What To Expect 

Whether you’ve just crossed over and your summer goal is to learn the skills needed to succeed on your trail to First Class, or you’re a seasoned Scout whose goal is to make progress towards a new skill or merit badge, we’re here to support you. Your experience will be a combination of merit badges, activities, skill instruction, work towards rank requirements, and numerous other interactive and engaging experiences. Scouts will be able to sign-up for merit badges and activities they are interested in participating in during their week.

For us, this is a chance to teach, mentor, guide, and enable our Scouts in ways perhaps we’ve never considered. Together, our team of summer camp staff will bring you high quality and dynamic content developed specifically for this program. Most importantly, we believe the foundational values found in the Scout Oath and Law are more important during this time than ever before. Together we’ll keep the fire of Scouting burning bright in the best ways we can: in our hearts, our minds, our backyards, our kitchens, our neighborhoods, and through fellowship with fellow Scouts. We’ll also stay active and have a ton of fun, which is essential to good Scouting. 

Dates & Cost

Merit Badge & Activity Schedule

We are offering 20 different Merit Badges and Advancement opportunities. In addition, there will be countless daily camp experiences (campfires, tours of camp, competitions, STEM experiments, and other fun activities).

For Summer Experience weeks 3-6, the same Merit Badges and Advancement opportunities will be offered. However, we will be releasing the precise schedule for live sessions at the dates outlined below. This will allow us to make changes to live sessions as needed based upon your feedback:

However, you can be confident that your Scout will have access to all of the merit badges, advancement, and activities as listed in the Week 1 and 2 schedule, so make sure and sign-up today! In the attachment you will find the Summer Experience schedule packet. The packet includes three pages. Please refer to the third page for programming and scheduling notes. 

Sign-Up & Registration Schedule: Merit Badges & Advancement

General registration is now open for all weeks. The second step is registering for Merit Badges and Advancement. Sign-up for Merit Badges and Advancement will occur on this website, and will follow the scheduled as outlined below:

How To Register:

If you already have an existing registration: To log-in click on "Look-Up Registration" on the top right-hand side of the page. Then, enter your registration number and email address. You will then be logged-in to your existing registration. Under your Scout's information there will be the option to select classes. This option will appear on the date that Merit Badge Sign-Up opens for your particular week. You will then need to finalize and submit your registration to hold your spot in that particular merit badge.

If you do not have an existing registration: Click "Register" for the week that you would like your Scout to attend. Walk-through the prompts to create a registration. On the date that sign-up open

Communication

A parent and leader meeting will occur during the week of June 1st with a specific date to follow via email. In addition, a Summer Experience Guidebook will be emailed out to all participants the week of June 1st, and will be available on this website. A few days prior to your Scout's summer experience, they will receive a technology preparation packet that will include log-in instructions, class codes, and other important information.
