National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an immersive and wide-ranging six-day outdoor experience for Scouts BSA and Venturing youth leaders. The course will be conducted at the Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation this summer by a trained staff of youth and adult leaders from around the Northeast Illinois Council. The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, KNOW, and DO. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on HOW to apply what is learned. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a quest for the meaning of leadership.

The course is filled on a first-come, first-served basis with a maximum of 60 participants.  

NORTHEAST ILLINOIS COUNCIL UNITS: Use the Autofill button next to each participant spot to add names. If a name is not listed, use the Update Information button instead. Contact your Unit Leader if they should be on our list to ensure the participant is properly registered; include Debi Geiger or Sam Dummer in the email so they are informed of their BSA status.

Youth Participant:

• The $60 Deposit Only option is available online through December 31, 2024 (11:59 PM). This payment is applied toward your fee.
• $340 – Discount Fee if paid in full by Sunday, January 19, 2025 (by 11:59 PM if paid online; by 4:00 PM if paid at the office).
• $365 – Regular Fee if paid in full January 20, 2025, through February 28, 2025 (11:59 PM)
• $390 – Late Fee if paid in full beginning March 1, 2025
• April 12: The balance is due for all registered participants by then. Cancellations after this date cannot be refunded.
• Beginning April 13: Anyone registered must be paid in full within 7 days.
• REGISTRATION CLOSES: May 10, 2025 (11:59 PM).
• IMPORTANT: All registrations completed on April 13 or later must be paid in full within 7 business days.

PARENTS:  Scouts must be at least 13 years old on the first day of the course may participate.  Contact their Scoutmaster or Venturing Crew Advisor if they are interested because only Scouts approved by their Adult Leaders may attend.

UNIT LEADERS: Contact Debi Geiger or Mike Anderson for the passcode to register Scouts.
