MaKaJaWan Traditional and Provisional Camps

Event Details

Each year, thousands of Scouts have an unforgettable summer at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation. Located in the North Woods of Wisconsin, Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan consists of over 1,500 acres of beautiful forest, six spring-fed lakes, and a natural creek. The reservation is home to two full-service camps, a wilderness camp, a high adventure base, and a horse ranch.

Committed to excellence for over 85 years, Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan is one of a handful of scout camps in the nation to receive a perfect accreditation rating from the BSA. Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan is located in Pearson, 25 miles northeast of Antigo, Wisconsin.

Has your unit signed up for a MaKaJaWan Summer Camp promotion yet?  If not, Schedule Your Camp Promotion Today!

TRADITIONAL CAMP

Once your Troop or Crew has reserved a campsite, your Camp Coordinator will be added to our email list.  In December, he or she will be emailed instructions, deadlines, registration links, etc., so when registration opens, they can immediately begin to sign up scouts and adults from your unit.  Remember, Traditional Camp registrations must be completed by the unit's camp coordinator, only.

Scoutmasters and Crew Advisors:  Contact Debi at the council office if you are unsure who is listed as your camp coordinator, or if someone else has taken over that role (and you want to ensure she was informed).  Also make sure she has your information, so you can be kept "in the loop". Thank you.

PROVISIONAL CAMP

What if my scout cannot attend Traditional Camp the same week as his troop, or he wants to stay an additional week without his troop.  Can he?

Yes!  During each of our six weeks of "Traditional" Camp, a Scout will be able to participate in the exact same week-long merit badge program, even though their own troop will not be there.  Sorry, this program is not available for adults.

Steps to Register your Scout as a provisional camper:

  1. Choose the week of camp your scout wants to attend. Then, make sure you choose Provisional Scout (not Scout) from the list.
  2. Registration Contact - You are the registration contact, but provide your Scout's unit information on this page.  Also provide your cell or other daytime phone number.
  3. It then opens to the Attendee tab, where you provide your scout's name and unit leader information (name, email, phone).  This is also where you tell us who he will be "Attending With" (see below).
  4. Make sure to click on the "Check-out" tab to pay his fee and complete the registration.

Attending With:

  1. Another Unit: Some Scouts have friends in another unit, who will host them for the week. Make arrangements to stay with them, but pay the fees yourself.  Ask them about transportation to and from camp for your Scout.  Provide that troop number, and it's unit leader's information.
  2. Ship 129:  We will provide a unit with 2-deep leadership for your Scout, so he can attend the week that works best for him.  If making this choice, no other information is needed.

IMPORTANT:  In the past, the only way to sign up for Provisional Camp was with a paper form, that was signed by the Scout's Unit Leader (Scoutmaster or Crew Advisor).  We've made things easier for you, by allowing you to register him/her online.  But, we still need you to provide his or her Unit Leader's first and last name, daytime phone number, and email address.

VENTURING QUEST

We will offer our special Venturing Quest program again during our 2nd week of summer camp (July 1-7).  You will find the registration link on the right side of this page.  Since youth and adults participate in the same program, they pay the same fee:  $300 if registered and paid in full by May 1 (11:59 pm) or $325 if registered and paid in full May 2-June 1 (11:59 pm).  Go to our camp website for details: Venturing Quest at MaKaJaWan.
