Welcome to Merit Badge University

When MBU began over 20 years ago - less than 100 Scouts attended. Today, over 1,500 Scouts from all over the United States attend this single-day event, making our MBU one of the largest in the Nation. Whether this is your first visit to MBU or you are a veteran, please read the instructions carefully as some of our registration procedures have changed.

Ready to get started? First, review the Class Schedule and read through the Event Class Catalog. These documents contain class times, descriptions, requirements and special instructions from our Instructors. Take some time and review the Frequently Asked Questions document too. It contains a ton of information for parents - whether you're an MBU veteran or a 1st timer.

Thank you for your interest in MBU! Registration for Merit Badge University has CLOSED registration to allow for schedules and onsite preparation.

Due to demand, we will allow WALK-IN registrations on a limited basis for any UNFILLED class slots. It is First come-First served only, and when they are gone, they are gone.

THE FOLLOWING BADGES CURRENTLY HAVE LIMITED (1 or more) OPENINGS

American Labor, Aviation, Chess, Citizenship in the Community

Citizenship in the World, Coin Collecting, Communication

Cooking, Family Life, First Aid, Geocaching, Hiking, Music

Personal Fitness, Personal Management, Pets, Public Speaking, Railroading

Reading, Scholarship, Sculpture, Sustainability, Theater, Eagle Preparation

If you are interested in attending MBU at Camp Big Timber on Saturday May 8th, Walk-in registration will be as follows.

1. Come prepared with an idea of what badges wish to take. (see sidebar walk-in choices and session times) Choose a few alternates as well.
2. On-Site fee is $60 and we can take cash, check, or credit card. (includes lunch, patch and fees) Additional snacks and drinks will be avaialbe for purchase in the snack shop.
3. Bring lawn chair, water bottle, uniform and dress for weather as this is mostly an outdoor event at camp! 
4. Registration for walk-ins begins at 8am at the main lodge.
