Event Details

2017 Fall Camporee Info, Registration

2017 Fall Camporee
Camp Wilson, Lorton Virginia
October 13-15
*Please note: this Camporee event is only open to Colonial & George Mason Districts.*

The October Calendar is full of dates that highlight achievements in Space, Communications and Technology. The camporee program will delve into these achievements that have included:

  • 1957 – Sputnik is launched into orbit and transmits a radio signal back to earth;
  • 1947- Chuck Yeager first pilot to break the sound barrier in flight;
  • 1915 – American Telephone and Telegraph transmits first ever transatlantic voice message from Virginia to Paris;
  • 1913 – First Solar Cell patented in the United States by William W. Coblentz, and;
  • 1882 – Robert Goddard, “Father of the Space Age” is born. He developed the first liquid fueled rocket.

Join the fun with a Patrol Team Rocket Building Challenge and Launch, with awards for the most creative rocket, farthest distance, longest flight time and highest altitude achieved.

The camporee will be all about debunking “STEM” challenges throughout the day in the program area, that will eventually get your troop/patrol/unit to the rocket launch pad.

Now is the time to rethink your Troop’s Camporee Gateway. The Gateway competition for this camporee will have a STEM requirement, each gateway must have an illuminated component – and extension cords and gas powered generators not allowed

Arrow of Light (AOL) Second Year Webelos are invited to attend as a Den/Patrol on Saturday and visit with the troops, join in the program fun, enjoy dinner with a hosting Troop and attend the evening’s campfire.
