“A Declaration of Adventure”
Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary
This special event commemorates the rich tradition of Scout jamborees while celebrating our nation's founding principles and Delaware's vital role in American history. Scouts will engage in the "Patriotic Pathways", specially designed series of activities that guide youth ages 5 through 20 on a journey through Delaware's and our nation's history, from colonial times to the present day! The Jamboree Leaders Guide is coming soon! (a few highlights are included below)
This is a RAIN OR SHINE EVENT - no refunds or cancellations within 2 weeks of the event except for medical reasons.
Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT ) - Any adult staying overnight must complete Safeguarding Youth Training prior to their stay in camp. The training is available online through www.my.scouting.org. Unit leaders are required to verify all of their associated adults are in compliance.
Annual Health and Medical Record (AB form) - Unit leaders are required to retain a copy of this form for all their associated youth and adults attending the Jamboree.
Arrival and Departure - Units are encouraged to arrive together and begin check-in procedures at 4:30 PM on Friday, April 24th. Prior to check-in, units may drop-off their supply trailer between 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM. In an effort to minimize impact, and for the safety of campers, no vehicles are allowed in the camping areas after 4:00 PM on Friday and before 9:30 AM Sunday. Since assignments may change, units are NOT allowed to set up campsites before check-in. Units choosing to use a trailer must plan to have one driver arrive early and depart later than the rest of the unit. Vehicles must unhitch from the trailer and park in the main parking lot (bring wheel chocks for trailer). If you arrive with a trailer after 4:00 PM you will not be permitted to the site area with the trailer and must off load and transport by carrying or using a small cart or wagon, personally provided. See Leader's Guide for additional procedures.
Camping at the Jamboree - All units will be assigned space based on the number of registered campers. We will attempt to place associated Cub Scout Packs and Scout Troops in adjacent spaces. If units desire adjacent spaces, please be sure unit numbers correspond and are indicated on their registrations, prior to arrival.
Food, Cooking and Campfires - Are you looking to maximize program time and minimize unit meal prep/cooking? If so, several food truck vendors will be on site Saturday afternoon/evening for those who would like to purchase food for a nominal fee. For your other meals, units should plan to cook using propane stoves. NO CAMPFIRES ON THE GROUND in FIELD CAMPSITES! Small elevated or off ground fires can be used in field sites. Established fire rings may be used in wooded campsites.
