USA Archery and Cub Scout Day Camp Range Master Training

Event Details

            A Level 1 Practical Course for Instructor Certification for USA Archery, in conjunction with the Adventure West Council, Cub Day Camp RangeMaster training & certification, for Cub Scout Shooting Sports, operation & instruction, which includes Archery, BB Gun shooting, and Slingshots/ Wrist Rockets.

            The L1 Practical course in archery involves range set-up, safety briefing, equipment review, steps for shooting a recurve bow, teaching a class, and hands-on range control with guidance/coaching & whistle commands.        

Before the practical training, archery instructors must complete this on-line course and bring the certificate to the event:

Online Course Cost: $40 (plus sales tax as applicable by state)

Practical Course Length: 4 Hours

Practical Course Cost: Varies depending on Instruction

Certification Period: Three years from the date of the course completion

Prerequisites:  Minimum Age: 15 (A student who is 14 years old and within 30 days of his or her 15th birthday may take the Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification course.  However, the instructor may not submit the Applicant Data form until the student turns 15 years of age.)

  Students should bring Proof of Final Exam, Personal Archery Equipment to include: Bow, Arrows (5), Arm Guard, finger protection (tab, glove, release),  water, snacks, willing to learn, and an attitude for FUN.  Completion of this training will qualify you to be a counselor for the Archery Merit Badge, instruct adults as archery Rangemasters, and run Cub Scout Day Camp Archery programs.    

 

RangeMaster training and certification is required for troop archery activites and Cub Scout Day Camp shooting sports for Archery Range, BB Gun shooting range, and Slingshots/Wrist Rockets operation and instruction.  This course will certify adults to run Cub Scout Day Camps shooting sports programs.  You must be 18 to open active ranges; you must be 16 to assist.
